Job Description

This individual will leverage syndicated/custom data to help the company’s teams & customers access data, understand performance drivers, make fact-based decisions, and improve sales & profitability. They must be adept and experienced in mining large databases and converting these into more user friendly tools/reports. Based on this data they will prepare analysis & recommendations in line with Sales, Marketing & Category Management needs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Execute period end templates, update KPI reports and presentations for marketing, sales & category management
  • Provide insights from data sources (AC Nielsen, Retailer POS, shipment data and ad tracking)
  • Assortment analysis, Planogram development and updates as needed to meet customer requirements
  • Work with key stakeholders to understand causal data and clearly explain “why” a trend or sales result occurred: efficiently pull data, analyses the facts & clearly communicate findings
  • Support Marketing & Sales with category insights & analysis for brand planning, new product launches, distribution gaps, assortment reviews, pricing analysis
  • Assist teams with category management templates, reports, analysis, planogram information based & manage multiple deadlines in line with priorities
  • Identify business opportunities in line with team, company & customer objectives
  • Competently complete category & business performance reviews, pricing & post promotion analysis & make recommendations
  • Create analytical tools/reports
  • Reports to Director Category Management, able to work collaboratively with cross functional business partners to support business needs
  • Be able to improve reporting effectiveness through process improvement & automation while ensuring attention to detail & data integrity.

Job Requirements

  • University graduate – Business program preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Solid analytic skills to probe data & identify issues, trends, opportunities
  • Good communications skills to discuss business issues, present data & recommendations in a team based environment
  • Adaptable, able to work independently to complete specific tasks, but also work collaboratively as part of a faced paced, dynamic Category Team
  • Able to support ad hoc requests & analysis while managing regular reporting & analytic needs
  • Able to support Sales with Retail meetings & Advisor engagements
  • Competent with advanced technology & large databases, solid PC skills with MS Office (advanced xls skills)
  • Excels at working in a cross-functional team environment
  • Intuitive business sense, know what data facts to review, know what questions to ask and build analysis using available data sources & provide fact based insights
  • Good understanding of Canadian Grocery Retail landscape and CPG Market
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
  • Advanced AC Nielsen Workstation Plus
  • Knowledge & experience working with Panel data, Featurevision
  • Planogram experience: JDA
  • Strong analytical, communication (oral and written), and collaboration skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Self motivated
